I've had to lock up some of my entries lately, so if you want to read, it's best to add me as a friend. Please comment here to let me know you are and there is a 98% chance that I will add you back. As long as you aren't related to me by blood.
So I haven't even had a chance to really crack the archive (I've basically been busy or lazy for a week straight), so I haven't talked about Yuletide at all, which is a shame because YULETIDE ROCKED MY WORLD THIS YEAR. I mean it was really great all around. No offense to other years, but this was the least anxiety I had about writing for Yuletide, and it was just all around fantastic. So, first, my wonderful gifts which you should ABSOLUTELY READ RIGHT THIS SECOND.

Dearest Yuletide Writer,

Hello there! First off, I have to apologize for the fact that I tend to write DYW letters and then second guess every single word of it because I have a tendency to just randomly blab and my letters aren't as awesome as other letters. It's just me being like "blah blah blah idk i like fic and fic is cool and i like you and idk i like everything!" which is probably not very helpful. So I hope you find at least one helpful thing in here, despite my total dorkiness.

The good news for you, dear Yuletide writer, is that just the thought of someone writing a fic for me is enough to make me gleeful. Which means I am pretty damn easy to please (at least I tend to think so). I just want you to have fun writing whatever you're going to write, don't stress over it and give yourself headaches or toothaches over it, just let it happen and as long as you enjoy it, I will too.

So, on to fandoms & more -- in alphabetical order -- behind the cutCollapse )

So I decided to sign-up for Round 2 of Trope Bingo, ahahahaha. Thankfully I got amnesty on Round 1 because I did write two fics back in January, but as you may know, my life took a crap the first weekend in February and injuries and illnesses kept me from being able to write.

Anyway, I'm better now so I thought I'd give it a go for the second round and hopefully nothing will stop me this time. I'm a big nervous about this card, but I think I can manage at least one line of bingo. EEP. This entry is basically just a place for me to refer back to my card easily, so hi.

I am SO behind on reading Yuletide fics, responding to comments and just generally everything. BUT I SWEAR I WILL CATCH UP THIS WEEK. Now that the holidays are pretty much over, I won't be so rushed and crap. But I thought I'd do a quick post-reveals post because it's tradition or something? Anyway...

My gift that I received was:

The Great Escape (1540 words) by Raisintorte
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Hamm & Buble - SNL Sketch
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Jon Hamm, Michael Bublé

The true story behind the People cover story: Michael Buble’s Epic Breakdown and How His Best Friend Jon Hamm Tried To Save Him From Himself.

Thank you so much to raisintorte. I know it's an oddball fandom but you gave me exactly what I wanted, and thank you again! ♥

I wrote TWO fics this year. My main assignment was this:

always where i need to be (5438 words) by weasleytook
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Revenge (TV)
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Nolan Ross/Emily Thorne
Characters: Charlotte Grayson, Emily Thorne, Nolan Ross

She may not be where she wants to be, but she's always where she needs to be. At least that's what she thinks.

Surprise surprise, I got assigned to write for Revenge. I'm sure you are all very shocked. I was really excited because my lovely recipient requested the three people I would most want to write for (Nolan, Emily & Charlotte)! But then because I am such a self-loathing idiot, I stressed out about it to the point of utter madness. MADNESS. And it's not the recipient's fault, I promise! It was allllllll mine. I genuinely don't think it's even close to my best work (and oh how the comment count shows it, lol), but the recipient was SO LOVELY and left me the NICEST comment I have ever received. I mean, it's crazy how nice that is. Like, how do you even top that? You just don't. And pleasing the recipient is all I really needed to make it worth my time. (Especially after last year's debacle.)

And then I wrote this as a treat:

One Hand On the Trigger of a Telephone (1825 words) by weasleytook
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Pitch Perfect (2012)
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Bumper/Fat Amy
Characters: Fat Amy, Bumper (Pitch Perfect), Beca (Pitch Perfect)

He's rude, insulting and beyond gross, but there's got to be a reason why she has his number.

I wrote this for Kacey, because a) I love Kacey and b) Her DYW letter was fantastic and it just made the whole thing click in my head really quickly. I had a lot of fun writing this one (maybe I get too stressed when something is my main assignment but a treat for fun is easier? IDEK where my head is at half the time.). It was just easy and fun and though I did momentarily shit myself with worry over capturing Fat Amy's voice, I realized that like 98% of any combination of words would sound funny coming out of Rebel Wilson's mouth, so I just got on with it and it was fine. In any case, this was clearly my most successful fic of Yuletide, and it even got recced a couple times which was nice to see! (And if you were following us on Twitter, oh man, KACEY LIVETWEETED HER EMOTIONS OVER THIS FIC ON TWITTER AND I HAVE HAD TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT THAT I WROTE IT FOR A WEEK. IT HAS BEEN REALLY DIFFICULT BUT SO WORTH IT.)

So my Yuletide was a bit of a roller coaster at times, but ultimately it turned out really good. Like, I actually feel really revitalized about writing again, and energized and ready to start 2013 in a good place with that. Yuletide taught me a lot about my strengths and weaknesses, and things to do or not to do for next year's Yuletide, so I feel good about it.

Hope everyone else had a good Yuletide too!

Dearest Yuletide Author,

Hello! Happy Yuletide to you, whoever you are! First off, I want to say thank you in advance for participating in Yuletide and for writing me a fic. I know how much time, energy and heart gets put into Yuletide writing every year and I appreciate that you are doing that for lil' ol' me. You = awesome.

The good news is that I think I'm fairly easy to please (though my friends might disagree). I have a few likes and dislikes (which are in this post), but I'm honestly not incredibly picky! I'll be thrilled just to have a fic in one of these fandoms. THRILLED!

So, on to fandoms & more -- in no particular order -- behind the cutCollapse )

As the States celebrate Labor Day this weekend, we thought we'd celebrate with a Revenge ficathon to mark the anniversary of the infamous Fire & Ice Ball. This ficathon is open to all characters, pairings, ratings, etc, so the only limit is your own creativity.

Is anyone (besides htbthomas) using Viggle?

Because you should and you should let me invite you so I get extra points.

It only works on iOS devices right now but it's totally legit. You check in to what you watch on TV (even recorded shows work) and earn points to cash in for gift cards for all sorts of places. In my first week, I got a $10 iTunes card AND ALL I HAD TO DO WAS WATCH TV. Which is what I do all the time anyway. So. Easy work.

Let me know if you want me to invite you and I will. (you need to have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch for it to work)

So I guess I should make a real post in here every now and then. Because, you know, LJ is so hopping.

Well, what's going on in my life?

Not much.

Last I wrote in here I was talking about going to Bakersfield for my uncle's surgery and that has passed. He's doing well but has a long recovery ahead of him as the surgery ended up being more extensive than they intially thought. My Uncle from Ohio is coming out at the end of this month and we'll be going back to Bakersfield to visit the other uncle for a day and then on to Los Angeles for a couple days. So there's that.

Other than that, life is just me driving people places and being boringly domestic and injuring my knee while exercising (I THOUGHT EXERCISE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOR YOU) and basically being lost and confused all the time. So. Yay. Hi. I thought this was going to be a longer post, but that's that. Just checking in. Most people here follow me on Twitter which is where you get the daily updates anyway. So. Yep.
